Keene, N.H. – The PSU women’s volleyball team took part in the Little East Conference – New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (LEC-NEWMAC) this past Saturday (10/14/12) at Keene State College.
The Panthers were first in action in morning as they took on the team from Smith College. This was a back and forth affair, as both team traded wins. Plymouth State was to finally secure the victory as they were able to win the final 5th set by 15-12. Plymouth State next took on Mount Holyoke in afternoon action. Riding the energy from their impressive win against Smith College, the Panthers were able to quickly put away Holyoke in three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-19, and a final score of 25-15.
It was another impressive day for PSU senior Casey Stoodley (Salem, N.H.). She led the day for the Panthers as she recorded 26 digs and 21 kills in the win over Smith, then she 17 kills in the win over Mount Holyoke.
Other standouts from the first game were junior Cassie Pelton (Brookline, N.H.) with 19 digs, and freshman Kirsten Perrotta (Hudson, N.H.) with 39 set assists. From the second game junior Kaitlyn Tedeschi had eight kills, and Cassie Pelton chimed in again with 14 digs.
Plymouth State is back in action this Wednesday as they take on Middlebury College on the road.
