Inappropriate Response from Misunderstanding Student

After voicing my opinion on the content of the Clock, I never expected to receive hate mail. I was, after all, speaking out in a public forum and not e-mailing each individual student. Patrick Wetmore, a senior and proud Bush supporter e-mailed me three times, each time ridiculing my opinion and stating that it was wrong of me to write what I did. He also sent a letter to the editor, and I quote “And this past week where the question was, “What recommendations would you make to The Clock in Order to Make it a better student Newspaper,” and the letter entitled “I Love You, I Hate You” from Krystina Hajduczek were both obviously written to try and offset Mr.Neveln’s letter entitled “We Deserve Better From You,” which was very well written.” Unfortunately, Mr. Wetmore demonstrates that he completely missed the point of my article. I stated that I praised the Clock for its willingness to print both sides of an argument. Was my article run to offset Mr. Neveln’s? It was run as a differing viewpoint, something that free speech allows. So, to you, Mr. Wetmore, all I have to say is what I said before, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” ~VoltaireThank you and play rugby,Krystina (Liv) Hajduczek
