PLYMOUTH – Sunday, Nov. 7 Student Senate members voted to approve the $17,000 ski package offered by Tenney Mountain. This year, proposals were submitted from four mountains around the area, voted on by the student body and the results sent to Senate for final approval. “I want to thank all of the students who took the time to vote…the votes were exceptionally close,” said Student Senate Treasurer, Leslie Kingsley.
While the package from Tenney was not the cheapest of the submitted proposals it is by far the cheapest to students.
Beginning Dec. 10 students will be able to start skiing for $1 per ticket, with Student ID, through the first half of April. Students can take advantage of a variety of other discounts available at Tenney. Included in the package are discounted rates for rentals, tubing, guest passes and private and group lessons.
Senior Andrea Krupsky found voting online very convenient she states, “I voted for the mountain that offered skiing and tubing for the most affordable price, simply because being a college student it is hard to afford… I do realize it is one of the smaller mountains, however, I think that it is the most practical choice for the ski package since it is so close to Plymouth State.”
Less than a ten-minute drive from campus, Tenney Mountain offers over 40 trails and 85 percent snowmaking coverage.
Tenney is also starting the “Tenney Mountain Club”, a semi-country-club for avid skiers and snowboarders to contribute to the mountain and have a say in the advancements that will help improve the mountain.
