New Codes Help Keep Registration Running

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College is adapting a new registration procedure for the Fall semester of this year that is quick and easy to use. The Office of the Registrar has been training on this new system to better help the students transition smoothly from the old system into the new.

The system uses different numbers and codes than the previous online procedure. The ‘new course numbers’ will be four digits instead of three, i.e. EN 120 will become EN 1200. The change is simple with an extra “0” added to the end of the current course numbers. Another, and very different change, is the new use of ‘course reference numbers’(CRN). CRN’s are computer generated numbers that are assigned to each separate section of a course.

Students don’t have to remember EN 1200.02; they simply need the CRN such as 17862.

“You’ll be able to register in less then five minutes if you obtain and correctly use the course reference numbers,” stated Stacey Curdie, from the Registrar’s Office.

Students can drop and add classes to fit schedules as well. A new feature to the process is the Class Search. It allows students to search for classes by clicking the Class Search button at the bottom of the page. Curdie warns to not search using all of the fields at the same time as the search will be too narrow.

Step by step instructions are incorporated into the system. However, if students have trouble, WebReg help will be available during the first two weeks of registration. There will be staff members in the basement cluster of the Lamson Library ready to assist.

With overrides, the Register’s office can be of assistance as well. Stacey Curdie asks for patience as offices may be busier during registration time. Curdie is

excited about this new program and encourages students to give her feedback about their experiences at scurdie@mail.plymouth.edu. Further information will be emailed and/or mailed to students closer to the registration period.
