As student government elections approach, first year students are encouraged to get involved and pick up an election packet in the HUB. Elections are being held Tues., Sept. 25th in the HUB from 10am-4pm.
First year students may join as a voting member after collecting 25 signatures on the petition for the position they wish to run for, which is included in the election packet. First years are eligible to run for First Year Class Representative, Residence Hall Representative or At-Large representative. The Residence Hall Representative position is ideal for first year students who are required to live in one of the five residence halls on campus.
PSU Senate Committees are also an option to consider for first year students and anyone else interested. Student Life, the committee responsible for Ski Day, is a popular choice among the Communications, Judicial, Finance and Traditions Council Committees.
Joining student senate is one of the best ways to get involved on campus and with the student body. A position on the senate or in one of the committees is helpful for first year students to successfully start their year at PSU. All the information needed to join is in the election packets available now in the HUB at the information desk.
