College offers a huge expanse of new opportunities for students, and with Plymouth States unique location and exciting atmosphere, it can be a little overwhelming try to pick the next new thing to try. To help you out, here is a list of things that every student at PSU should try at least once before they graduate in four years:
o Pick a Major It has to be done eventually. Even if it’s something you’re unsure about, there’s always time to switch. Pick something you enjoy and run with it.
o Change Your Major So maybe art history wasn’t really you’re thing. That’s absolutely fine. Everybody has moments of doubt and there’s no shame in realizing there’s another passion you should be pursuing.
o Pull an All Nighter That five page essay you thought you had a week to finish? Turns out it’s due during that 8am class tomorrow morning, and it’s already 1:30. No problem, there’s still another seven and a half hours to bang out all that research, organizing, and citing of sources. Sleep isn’t really a necessary part of living anyway.
o Play Frisbee on Mary Lyon Lawn What better way to spend a sunny Tuesday afternoon than by tossing a Frisbee around on Mary Lyon lawn with a couple friends?
o Free Sandwich at Biederman’s on Your Birthday Bet you didn’t know this was an option. Bring your driver’s license down and enjoy a free sandwich for your special day!
o Hike Rattlesnake If you’re into outdoors activities or just looking to get a group together for a day of fun, hiking up Rattlesnake Mountain is a great idea. Beautiful scenery and great memories await with this one.
o Ski at Waterville Valley If you’re attending Plymouth State then you’ve already heard about the great ski sites in the area. Waterville Valley is just one of the resorts that are a must see for any skier or snowboarder.
o Float the Pemi Take advantage of the weather while it’s still warm and take a float down the Pemi River. Grab a tube, a group of friends, and enjoy the warm weather and sunshine.
o Spot the Pumpkins on Rounds Once October hits it’s just a matter of time before pumpkins start popping up around campus. Keep an eye out and you may see some in places you least expect them to be.
o Overeat at D-Hall This one is hard not to do, as the endless amount of food always seems to be calling for seconds. Or thirds. Give yourself at least one chance to eat yourself sick before deciding to go healthy for the rest of the year.
o Dollar Slices at Kieth’s When it comes to being in college, nothing is more appealing than cheap food. Head down to Keith’s one night for a slice of pizza for only a dollar. While you’re there, be sure to leave a handprint on the wall.
o Catch the Plymouth Plague It’s inevitable, so you might as well embrace it. The Plymouth Plague will eventually circle around campus whether it’s wanted or not.
o Encounter a Ghost For those who haven’t heard, there are one or two ghost stories that seem to be floating around Plymouth State University. Do some research and find out where you may be able to have your own paranormal experience. Cough Cough, Mary Lyon. Cough Cough, Blair.
o Take a Picture with Pemi the Panther You’ll see this friendly pan- ther strolling through campus sooner or later. Catch him while you can and snap a picture. It may feel silly at the time, but it’s a photo that will surely give you a smile for years to come.
o Attend First Fire Once fall rolls around, so do the fall festivities. First Fire may be the biggest fall tradition Plymouth State holds, and you don’t want to miss it.
o Join a Club or Organization What better way to make friends this school year than by joining a club or organization? Find people with the same interests as you and enjoy what you love together.
o Have the Greatest Four Years of Your Life This is college. You’ll never have the opportunity again, so make the most of it now!
