Drinking age students in Plymouth have some knowledge of the nightlife scene here. There are two locations that students go to. Although they are in the same town, what makes these two places different? What makes these two places similar? The Clock gets down to the nitty gritty details and give the inside scoop on The Lucky Dog vs. The Panther Pub.
Let's start off with some of the similarities between the two. Both serve food and have a decently lengthy menu. In each restaurant there is a full bar, and area to be seated for general dining. Among other similarities there is a great staff at both places.
They each have weekly specials, along with deals on drinks, and events throughout the week ranging from trivia night at the Pub, to Karaoke at the Dog. However having some similarities, these two establishments have many more contrasts. Lets start with environment.
The Panther Pub is a pub environment with a large bar in the middle of the establishment. The surrounding tables are high tops, and a few low tops, with a row of booths on the far wall. This specific set up is nice, but draws an older crowd due to the location of the bar.
The pub serves food constantly, and this is probably the main attraction. When it comes to the nightlife, the pub closes much earlier than the Dog, therefore making it more family friendly.
As for the Dog, there is a full restaurant upstairs. The restaurant can be considered family friendly, and closes at a decent hour. However, the downstairs part of the Dog, known as the bar area is where the real fun is. Serving drink specials until 1am.
The Dog is considered more of a nightlife establishment in most of our eyes due to the fact only 21+ can get it, and it is just a bar, where as the Pub is a restaurant with a bar.
Truly it all depends on the experience you want to have, that will make your choice for you. Either way, weather you go to the Dog or the Pub, we’re hoping you stumbling
