Damn (it) Daniel

What the hell America? Are we serious with this one? I mean at least the “Deez Nuts” video was somewhat amusing but it has simply gone too far.

Recently a video emerged on Twit- ter called “Damn Daniel.” This video is thirty seconds long and the only words said in the video are “damn Daniel, back at it again with the white vans.” The person taking the video, Josh Holz, has an amusing voice but other than that the video lacks originality and humor. By no means does the video deserve the hype that it has received all over Twitter, Facebook, and every other form of social media. The 14 year old boy, Daniel Lara, is just walking around wearing shoes; do you ever wear shoes? Wow that’s so funny that you wear shoes.

Daniel Lara the protagonist of the masterfully filmed video recently appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show where he and his videographer were interviewed about their infamous video. The video now has over 400 thousand likes on Twitter and over 300 thousand retweets while posting over 6 million views on YouTube.

As a result of the video, Vans®, has seen a rise in sales of their classic “white vans.” Because of the massive publicity that Daniel Lara has given Vans®, the company has graciously presented him with a lifetime supply of their shoes. The man behind the camera, Josh Holz, received a free surfboard from Ellen while the duo appeared on her show. I do not know about you but in my opinion the thirty seconds of fame these two received was not at all worthy of a lifetime supply of shoes and a free surfboard.

The things that are seen as funny among our generation now are simply outrageous. We have lost sight of what actual humor is and in turn have looked to the simplest forms of humor. I am appalled with the fame that this video, along with every other video of its kind, have all received and honestly just wish it would stop. I mean free shoes for life because someone took a video of Daniel wearing shoes. Someone please follow me around, I need new shoes.
