Surviving Spring Semester

Spring is in the air, and so is the sent of cheap beer, and bad decisions. Along with these there is the overwhelming urgency to get all of our work done, and to do well. As a third year student I know all too well the change of pace as soon as spring hits us. Spring semester hits like a load of bricks, when all we want to do is drink, have a good time, and get out of here for the summer. Do we go to class? Or do we drink this beer? Do we make the terrible choice to do both? Like I said I know this all too well, and there are a few tips that I have learned in order to survive spring semester.

First, get your work done. Yeah, I know that sitting alone in the library or in your room doing that last God awful assignment is a total pain, but the sooner it gets done, the sooner you have all the time in the world for extra curricula’s.

Don’t drink and go to class. For the love of God, we all know you did and you smell like beer. Make the conscious decision to drink after, or don’t go to class. Having said that, you should probably have prioritized the usual 3 skips that you are allowed per course.

Leave a weekend day open for work. Yeah, I get day drinking on Saturday and Sunday are the spring way of doing things, but your are only going to be punishing yourself if you fall asleep at 6pm because you did a case race.

Save your money. Nobody gets more pissed off than I do when it’s a week away from spring fling and my bank account cant even afford to get me a pack of gum from Rite Aid. Optimize your spending so that you can have the best Spring Fling you can afford, and have money to make sure you can get to Chase St. in the morning so you don’t die.

Follow these simple steps in order to survive, and I promise you that your life will be filled with good grades, laughter, beer, and our favorite, a hangover.
