After coming off a win against Lyndon State last week, the Plymouth women's soccer team came home with another shutout. This past Saturday, they would post a 0-0 draw against Castleton.

With 11 shots on net, the Lady Panthers had opportunities to score. Castleton fought back with 17 shots total and a strong defense. Senior Leah Swanson (Atkinson, N.H) said “We played our hearts out Saturday. Although the result was a tie we pushed each other every minute in that game.”

After a long game that led into a double overtime, both teams came out with a scoreless encounter. The momentum for the ball and another win kept the team fueled throughout the 110-minute match.

Keeper Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, N.H.) made four saves during the game, which kept the shutout record that now stands at 2-0 for the season. “Schmidt played amazing and came up with incredible saves that kept us in the game,” said Swanson

Jessica Binkowski had six saves for Castleton, with shots from Plymouth senior Hannah Kallis (Sanford, Maine) and juniors Naomi Kramer (Bow, N.H.) and Adrianna Kippenberger (Wilmington, MA.)

When asked on what the next step was, Swanson stated “to have our first two games holding it at zero means we are going in the right direction, but we need to keep our focus and keep that desire alive. We've worked hard all summer and preseason and we work hard every morning at training; there's no reason we can't accomplish our goals this year, and we start with one game at a time.”

The Lady Panthers played Salem State this past Wednesday under the lights, with the score unavailable for press time. They return for a two-game home stretch starting tomorrow against Bridgewater State, with tip-off scheduled for 1:30.
