On June 13, ground broke on the new ramp for Hyde Hall at Plymouth State University. The new ramp is being built because the previous one was not up to ADA code, with plans for the new design being made as early as November of 2015. The ramp is being built by the contractor Structure Tone, Inc., and is expected to be finished by Oct. 21 of this year. There is a delay in construction due to the fact that the material used, a natural granite imported from Canada, takes time to be delivered. The next shipment is on Saturday, Sept. 24, and construction will continue on schedule.

One concern of the student population at Plymouth State is the state of the temporary handicap ramp in the north entrance of Hyde once it gets cold. The ramp is up to ADA code, however since it is made of metal there are doubts to how it would hold up once it begins to snow. Since the project is scheduled to be finished by late October, the new ramp will be up and running and the temporary entrance will no longer be needed.
