1.Football – Plymouth State football is 3-0 this season, the first time they’ve started 3-0 since 2007 where they started off 6-0. Their offense is on fire, scoring roughly 26 points a game and their defense has been put- ting up spectacular numbers.

2.Women’s Soccer – The women’s soccer team has a 5-0-2 record. Before giving up a goal to Umass Boston, they had five straight shutout games to start the season. They’ve had an awesome offensive attack as well, taking 103 shots and scoring 16 goals.

3.Field Hockey – PSU field hockey is 4-2 on a four game winning streak. After starting out slow they’ve picked up the pace, and the offense is firing on all cylinders with 26 goals on 121 shots, taking roughly 20 shots a game.

4.Cross Country – The cross-country teams are having a great start to the season. The men finished third at the New England Invitational and the women came home fourth.

5.Volleyball – The PSU volleyball team is 7-5 this season and on a current four game winning streak, they look exceptionally strong heading into some tough conference games.

Panther Athletes:

1.Zach Ziemba (Manchester, NH) – Ziemba was named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week after a strong game at Western Connecticut. Ziemba had 13 tackles, as well as an interception and a blocked point-after attempt, which he returned 98 yards for two points.

2.Sam Brunette (Newport, VT) – Brunette had a day at the Umass Dartmouth Invitational where he placed fifth out of 242 competitors. This performance made him the top LEC finisher and he even beat his own record of 25:53 in the 8k by finishing in 25:09.

3.Nicole Burgess (Mexico, ME) – Burgess has really turned up the heat offensively for the Panther field hockey team. She leads the team in goals and points (eight goals, three assists, 19 points.) Three of the goals coming last week made her a shoe in for LEC Offensive Player of the Week.

4.Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, NH) – Schmidt leads the LEC and ranks 13th nationally in goals against average (.16) and save percentage (.968) As mentioned earlier she was instrumental in PSU’s shutout streak and is the LEC Goal-keeper of the Week.

5.Leah Swanson (Atkinson, NH) - Swanson has played fantastic defense for the Panthers. She was a big part in keeping away shots on net against Schmidt in the shutout streak and also tallied a game winning goal against Umass Boston. As if that’s not impressive enough, she was also given LEC Defensive Player of the Week.

6.Dayshia Randall (Troy, NY) – Randall has been voted LEC Rookie of the Week two weeks in a row for cross-country. She placed 59th over- all and was the top rookie finisher at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. She also broke the school mark in the 5k at 19:42.
