This past weekend, the Panthers faced Plymouth’s schools rival, the Keene State Owls, in what would be a runaway game. The Owls offense came out fast and strong, and would go on to steal the game in a 5-0 turn out.
Just six minutes into the first half, Keene State scored their first goal by junior midfielder, Katie Silegy (Keene, N.H), who was assisted by junior forward Julia Pearson (Harwinton, C.T) and senior forward Sierra Trzepacz (Enfield, C.T). This brought on a wave of aggression as Keene followed up with another goal at the seven-minute mark by senior forward Brittany Tolla (Newton C.T). The half ended with a final goal from junior midfielder, Kal Santino (West Chesterfield N.H), who was assisted by Pearson.
Starting the second half down by three, the Panthers tried to make a comeback. They held off the Owls until the last twenty minutes of the half, when junior midfielder, Morgan Kathan (Ludlow, V.T), scored two unassisted goals.
With the victory, the Keene State Owls also outshot the Panthers 20-4. Plymouth State goalie Annaliese Schmidt made six saves.
The Women’s soccer team’s record now stands at (5-2-2) regular season and (1-2) Little East Conference (LEC). They will play away Saturday, October 8, against the Huskies of University of Southern Maine at 1pm.
