Women’s Basketball Tops Rivier

The Women’s Basketball Team kicked off their 2016-2017 season with a 71-61 victory as they went up against non-conference opponent, Rivier University Raiders, in Concord on Tuesday. It was the opening game of the Boys and Girls Club Classic, which is hosted by New Hampshire Technical Institute.
Plymouth’s win was solidified by senior guards, DeAsia “Ace” Lawrence (Middletown, Conn.) 21 points, which led both teams, on 8-13 shooting, 3-6 from three point range. Lawrence also recorded 3 assists and 2 steals. Senior guard, Savannah Miller (Smithtown, N.Y.), led the team with 6 rebounds and 5 assists, also had 2 points. Sophomore forward, Kailyn Aguiar (Acushnet, Mass.) tallied 9 points on 4 of 5 shooting and sophomore guard/ forward, Cassidy Emerson (Concord, N.H.) tallied 8 points on 4 of 6 shooting and also recorded 2 rebounds.
The Panthers next game is on Tuesday, the 22nd, as the team travels to Castleton (1-0) to take on the Spartans. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
