Sing Your Heart Out at the Lucky Dog

For those who are bored on a Wednesday night, and over 21, look no further than The Lucky Dog’s karaoke night.

Bars normally aren’t too crowded during the middle of the week, but at The Dog, PSU students flock to the staple Plymouth bar for a night of karaoke.

Every Wednesday after trivia (which begins at 7:30 p.m.) the bar turns into a concert of sorts, comprised of PSU students and locals alike. Karaoke begins at 10 p.m. Interested bar-goers can slip their name into the bowl and wait for their turn to sing their song of choice.

There aren’t many places that provide a mix of Journey, Taylor Swift and Vanilla Ice. The atmosphere of The Dog on a Wednesday night is nothing short of welcoming. Regardless of talent, the cheers that erupt from the audience are just the thing to encourage even the shyest of singers.

Singers who brave the mic won’t be alone. Nearly every song turns into a bar-wide sing along. Every song is a hit.

Brianna Bouchard, a PSU student and first-timer at karaoke night, shared her experience at the mic. “I never thought I’d be the person to get up and sing, but I was just in the moment, and went up there on a whim,” she said. “It was a little scary, I won’t lie, but I think I would do it again. It’s so much fun.”

It’s recommended that PSU students attend karaoke night at The Lucky Dog at least once before graduation. With a favorite drink and some favorite songs, it makes for a great way to liven up the middle of a long week. It’s a classic night out that is nothing short of a good time.
