This season Plymouth women’s lacrosse has played two games that have turned out un-victorious over break. The Lady Panthers dropped one to MIT March 18th, one to Oneonta March 28th and one was postponed. Against Oneonta college the team fell short 9 goals when the victors were able to rout the Panthers 15-6.
Senior Kaitlyn Wilder (Framingham, MA) commented on her thoughts about the season thus far. Starting off the season 0-2, Wilder reflected that the team is doing well for their current indoor practice situation.
“We were well prepared, we had tough draw control and turnovers but we had some really great offensive opportunities,” she said.
When asked what the team had been working on in preparation for Friday's game, Wilder said “we’re focusing on shooting and getting the ball on net. Getting the ground
balls and beating the other team to the ball as well as capitalizing on fast breaks is important. Spacing is something that we will be able to work on when we get out on a real field”.
The team goals for this season included having the best record in the LEC, beating Keene and winning the LEC. As for her own personal goal on the season Wilder wants to have a good last season. “I want to be able to walk away from the field and leave it all there, feel like I did everything I could; also being an LEC champ”.
Additional comments from Wilder about the team's mindset included, “We’re pretty positive. It’s tough to lose the first two games of the season, but we want to be prepared for our first conference game. We have a strong unit and we’re excited to get the season started”.
The Panthers take on Castleton today, with scores unavailable for press time.
