#Throwback to 10 Years Ago This Week in A&E - Week of September 17, 2007
During the week of September 17, 2007, the single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” by Soulja Boy still held its spot at #1, which it had stolen from Fergie (with her single “Big Girls Don’t Cry”) on the Billboard 100. Still, as I’m sure we all remember, even long after this single left the #1 spot, talented dancers still did the “Soulja Boy dance” at every school dance. It was also blaring from every older sibling’s car radio. Whether Rap was your thing or not, you knew of this song’s existence.
Also during this week in 2007, the suspense film Final Draft was one of the most popular movies to be released. It starred James Van Der Beek as a screenwriter who locks himself in his room, so that he can scramble to meet a deadline for a screenplay. Other renowned movies, such as romantic comedy Good Luck Chuck (starring comedian/actor Dane Cook) and adventure drama Into the Wild were right around the corner for Friday, the 21.
For gamers during this week in September of 2007, MySims for Nintendo DS and Wii, Sonic Rush Adventure for Nintendo DS, and Coded Arms: Contagion for PSP were the hottest games on the market. If you think about it, the Sims franchise was one of the first avatar-based platforms we could all get our hands on. Also, who didn’t love Sonic, the cool and swift hedgehog? That’s some nostalgia for you!
Just like in last week’s #throwback, Khaled Hosseini’s novel A Thousand Splendid Suns still stood at the top of The New York Times bestseller list during this week in 2007. It would stay there until September 23. Between the success of that novel and The Kite Runner, Hosseini was having a pretty lucrative couple of years.
