The Plymouth State Volleyball team went 2-2 in a four game slate this past week. The team visited Southern Maine first where they won 3-2 in an exciting comeback victory. The Panthers were able to battle back after dropping the first two sets. Plymouth was able to rally and scrape by with two close-set victories, which forced a decisive 5th set. The fourth set saw both teams tied at 24. Senior Claire Sporer (Medford, Ore.) came up with a kill to make it 25-24 then followed that up by serving an ace to secure the set and force the 5th set. The 5th set saw a back and forth affair between the two teams before Plymouth was able to secure a 15-13 win.
On Saturday, the 7th, Plymouth competed in a tri-match against Babson and Endicott. The Panthers fell to Babson 3-1 in their first match but rallied to defeat Endicott 3-2.
On Wednesday, the 11th, Plymouth visited UMass Boston in an LEC matchup. However, the Panthers came up empty in their trip falling 3-0. Senior Megan Bailey (Canterbury, N.H.) led the team with 20 assists and Sporer added in a team-high 7 kills.
This 2-2 stretch improved their record to 14-8 (2-2 LEC). Plymouth’s next match is a tri-match at Framingham State on Saturday, the 14th, against Worcester State and Framingham State. The first match is set for 1pm and the second is set to start at 3pm.
