“Jessica Jones” is Back with Season 2
It’s that time again--time for Marvel to steal even more hours from your life with the Netflix series “Jessica Jones,” which is set to premiere with a second season March 8.
There is a lot of hype and anticipation around this release, as we see Krysten Ritter star once again as the titular, hard-drinking, brash, witty, and darkly-charismatic heroine (fresh off her character’s crossover season on “The Defenders”). There were a lot of story arcs at the commencement of last season, so here are some spoiler-filled refreshers to get you back on track.
Tensions in season one of “Jessica Jones” came to a head in the last few episodes, as she faced off with her long-time tormenter and the show’s main villain, the mind-controlling Killgrave. Following his death at Jones’ own hands, she is finally free to live her own life, away from his influence. But, the big question is: does she even know how to move on?
Having opened Alias Investigations (Jones’ private investigator company) in a more permanent manner, it will be interesting to see if the alcohol-dependent and troubled hero can interact with the outside world without losing her temper, which is a common occurrence.
Many questions were also raised about who was responsible for the death of Jones’ parents and brother, and what sinister organization performed the experiments on her to give her superhuman abilities. Many fans were disappointed to not have any conclusive answers. But, this allows for a major payoff, as the second season hopes to perform as strongly as the first.
One of my own major questions for this season of “Jessica Jones” is whether or not we will see any guest appearances from her fellow Defenders. As one member of the street-level hero team, we saw her interact with several other Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem-based heroes, such as Daredevil and Iron Fist. Season one even saw fan favorite hero Luke Cage make his debut as a possible love interest for Jones. But, will the two meet again this March?
Krysten Ritter and other co-stars all return to Netflix on March 8, 2018 to celebrate International Women’s Day with one of Marvel’s most must-see super heroines.
