This Tuesday at Arold field, the Plymouth State Women’s Lacrosse team hosted Bridgewater State in their official home opener. Before Tuesday's game, the Lady Panthers were on a three-game winning streak, with a record of 6-3 non-conference and 2-0 Little East Conference. The Bridgewater Bears came into the game on a two-game losing streak and came to play on a snowy and chilly afternoon.

In the first half, with cold winds blowing ercely, the Panthers notched six goals into their belts. The first goal scored by Sydney Dubois, assisted by senior Sam Sullivan. Minutes later, The Panther’s were able to net another one on a free position shot, one of the first opportunities on free position shots to come. Not even two minutes, later Sam Fiore was able to get one past Bridgewater’s goaltender with another assist to senior Sam Sullivan. Before the fifteen-minute mark in the game, the Panthers were able to improve their lead two more times, one on another free position shot by Sophia Guerriero and one from Veronica Daniels. The Panthers thought this would be yet another run away game in their season until the Bears were able to capitalize on ground balls and turnovers. This eventually lead them to find a rhythm that lead them to have five unanswered goals to finish off the first half. This was until just under four minutes left when Sam Fiore scored her second of the game, assisted by Sydney Dubois. Both teams would head into half time with Plymouth leading, 6-5.

After the half time break, it would be Bridgewater State who would come out with ring sticks and quick shots. Early into the second half, the Bears took charge taking over the lead after scoring three goals in the first minutes. Plymouth State, after recovering from a defensive breakdown, worked on their communication after Bridgewater was down two players at one point for yellow cards. The Panthers scored four goals, another one from Sam Fiore, assisted by Kimberly Zuccaro, the next scored by Zuccaro herself on a free position shot. A little over ten seconds later Sydney Dubois scored one assisted by one of the Panthers strongest players Meghan Tingley. Dubois would go on to score under a minute later again, assisted by Plymouth’s other leading players Sam Sullivan. Plymouth ended their scoring a little under the eight-minute mark with an unassisted goal by Veronica Daniels.

With minutes remaining in the game Plymouth took the opportunity after regaining the lead to waste the time clock as much as they could. They maintained possession in strong pursuit, only allowing the Bears one more goal in the nal minutes. The final score ending with a 11-9 Panther victory. Panthers will be traveling to Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, April 14, for their next game. Play time is to start at 12 p.m.
