Seven Girly Classics to Binge During April Showers
Everyone knows April is the month of a great deal of rain, and in the next week, we are about to see it. But “April showers are what bring May flowers.” As long as we’re in the month of April, we might as well enjoy it, and watch as much TV as we want. This one’s for the girls. Pick up some Ben & Jerry’s and relax.
#1 “10 Things I Hate About You” (1999)
An outcast girl played by Julia Stiles falls in love with the high school’s bad boy, played by Heath Ledger. But, the problem is the whole relationship is started because of a bribe. And if you haven’t seen this movie, then now is the time.
#2 “13 Going on 30” (2004)
This is one of those movies that you remember watching at age thirteen, wishing you were actually in the movie, and that it was happening to you. A thirteen-year-old girl in the 80s wants to skip her teenage years and go right to being an adult. The thirteen-year-old girl played by Jennifer Garner time travels to age thirty. In her character’s words, “thirty, flirty and thriving.”
#3 Clueless (1995)
A rich, shallow teenage girl, Cher, (played by Alicia Silverstone) is the most popular girl in her high school. She considers herself a matchmaker, so she starts matching people. But, it doesn’t end how she wants it to, and her step brother is there to tell her she is wrong.
#4 Miss Congeniality (2000)
A terrorist threatens to bomb the Miss United States pageant, so the FBI has a female agent go undercover. The female agent is Gracie (played by Sandra Bullock). Gracie is not feminine and graceful like the rest of the contestants.
#5 How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
An advice columnist Andie Anderson (played by Kate Hudson) is writing a piece called “How to Get a Man to Leave You in Ten Days.” She goes off to find a man that she can use, which is when she meets a confident man named Ben Berry (played by Matthew McConaughey), who thinks he can make a woman fall in love with him.
#6 27 Dresses (2008)
An expert in weddings named Jane (played by Katherine Heigl) has spent so many weddings as a maid of honor under her belt. She runs across a man who finds her notebook with all of the weddings she is going to be in, and he is shocked.
#7 A Walk to Remember (2002)
A “bad-boy” high school senior played by Shane West falls in love with a nerdy girl played by Mandy Moore. They face one of the hardest things two people can face.
