Burrito Me Pleased Me
Burrito Me is a restaurant that just opened on the corner of Main St. and Highland St. You probably know this corner as the place where Bad Dogs, Junkyard Dogs, and Mikes Speak Easy Café have all been over the past three years.
The other day, my friends and I debated over where to eat. It seems like it's always Chinese food or pizza. We chose to go to the new Mexican restaurant Burrito Me because word on the street is it it's greaet food for a great price so I wanted to try it out and see for myself.
We grabbed a table as soon as we walked in; the place was packed with students, residents, and even some of my professors. The Burrito Me atmosphere reminded me of a Chipotle or a Qdoba.
There is a food bar, like a Subway or Quiznos, where you can view the array of different meats, rice, veggies, and variety of salsas and guacamole. To begin you hop in line, which serves right to left while ordering.
The menu is simple, the prices are inexpensive and the food is great. They have burritos, salads, quesadillas, and tacos, along with the requisite chips, and a variety of salsas and guacamole.
I ordered a regular chicken burrito, on a white tortilla with white rice, black beans, and guacamole (costs a little extra). In comparison to the Mexican restaurants I am used to, it was very good although it lacked some spice and flavoring in the rice, overall there were no complaints.
All together I bought a regular burrito, chips, and drink and it cost me twelve dollars, which I didn't think was too bad for the amount of food I got.
I usually am not a big eater but I conquered my craving by eating my entire burrito and had a few chips. The chips were good and weren't too salty like Chipotle chips, (they hit the spot).
I spoke with the manager, Rueben, he assured me that just because this is a bar set up doesn't mean the food has been sitting out all day, it is all kept very fresh and is made from scratch.
He was right, I took one bite of my burrito and it was so fresh the taste blew me away, which is really important when you're dealing with guacamole. A+ for that.
Burrito Me is a small taqueria founded by cousins Aaron and Reuben. Their first Burrito Me restaurant is located in Laconia, NH. Aaron and Reuben knew from the beginning that they wanted to make everything from scratch and use local products whenever possible.
"We knew we needed a second location, and there's nothing better than a college town, the amount of food and quality of the food you get here is perfect, you never get that bad stuffed feeling after eating here, and everything here is made fresh," said Reuben, Manager of the new establishment.
Burrito Me is open Mon-Thurs 11-8pm, and Fri-Sat 11-10pm. They also do take out if you call; (603) 238-3410. I suggest everyone goes here and tries it out; I had a great experience, and will definitely be back for more.
