Student Support Foundation Board Members,
Anna Brown, Hannah Andry and
Courtney Bracken were excited to see so many volunteers on move-in day.
On Nov. 11 the Student Support Foundation, SSF, officially moved into their new space taking over the old Bulk Mail Center behind Hyde.
“The new food pantry is great for SSF because it is in a more noticeable and centralized location on campus,” said Hannah Andry, senior communications major and SSF board member.
Over thirty students came together to help the Foundation move, including the women’s rugby team, friends of board members and other students looking for a way to spend their Veteran’s Day and help the community.
“[They] all worked very hard that day moving food, furniture, and organizing the new space,” said Anna Brown, senior student and SSF executive board member. “It was a great day getting to know more people and being around such positive energy.”
This space will be used to store food and will also serve as a meeting space for the Student Support Foundation.
“We also plan to share our space with other organizations that run into a pickle and need a place to meet, but this is down the road,” said Brown.
Andry said, “The new space is comfortable and feels welcoming which may make it easier for students to reach out for support.”
PSU students and members of SSF look forward to what the new space will bring. “I'm looking forward to some pending and upcoming projects such as "Farm to Food Pantry," having a garden out front and just brightening up the space we are so fortunate to have,” said Andry.
The food pantry will begin operating out of their new space this spring. The grand opening is on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 2-3pm.
