As we all put on our high school graduation caps and got into the terrible height assembled lines, each of us had some small idea of what we wanted to do with our lives. Each one of us had a small hankering of a past dream or passion that we felt would carry us through to college. Summer passed and it was finally time to pack up the car and hit the road for college.

Finally. College. After the initial excitement, and fear settled in we all had to truck our way to classes and sit patiently listening to the professors whose names we couldn’t pronounce. As they rambled on and on I’m sure most of our minds wandered. I know mine did. All of the sudden, I got hit with an overwhelming feeling of what am I going to do? Where will this major take me? What is my job going to be?

Soon after the immense wave of nausea passed, I took a breath and thought to myself, “I bet everyone feels this way.” The funny thing is, they did. After collective breathing I was again composed and the time started to pass. It is now two years later, and guess what? I have no clue what I am going to do with my life. I have absolutely no idea what I am going to be, or what my job is going to be. One would think that with one year left of school this would all be figured out.

Truthfully, if you go into college knowing exactly what you are going to be, and what you are going to do, and this doesn’t change by your senior year, you are one of the few, one of the lucky, and may the odds ever be in your favor. It’s okay to not know what you want to do. It’s also okay to question yourself. What else is college really about besides learning, growing, experiencing, and changing.

As long as we all stay positive, and determined for success, we won’t fail. Even if you don’t end up where you thought you would be, we all have to end up somewhere, and honestly somewhere is better than nowhere. Deep breaths kids, and keep chugging.
