From Feb. 8 to Feb. 12, PSU was once again alive with the spirit that marks the annual Winter Carnival put on by PACE. Each day a new event was showcased to the student body, and everyone was given easy access to the events in the HUB.
This year’s Winter Carnival slogan was “Plymouth and Chill” derived from the popular saying “Netflix and Chill”, and was met with great acclaim from students, propelling the excitement forward for the full week of fun.
“I think the whole Plymouth and Chill saying was really cool,” said Brianna Warnick, a first year communication studies major. “PACE did a great job coming up with something that all of us students would understand, and it got me super pumped for Winter Carnival week, especially since it’s my first one!” said freshman Lauren LaMontagne, a nursing major.
Monday and Tuesday passed by quickly, with “Plymouth and Chill” mugs, and decorative bamboo plants flying off the tables and into student’s hands. However the coveted event came Wednesday, in the form of Plymouth’s famous annual ski day. “This was probably my all time favorite day of the year so far,” said LaMontagne. “I like how PACE worked hard to cater to everyone’s needs during this event, even if you don’t like to ski, the offer of snow shoeing down Cannon Mountain is still a great chance to be where all the snow is.”
Winter Carnival wrapped up that coming Saturday, when members of the Plymouth community were able to skate for free after watching the men’s hockey game. Following a hard week’s work PACE concluded the night handing out their gear, and enjoying some relaxing time on the ice with the rest of the student body. Until next year, Winter Carnival!
