"Happy Death Day": A Thrilling Thriller
Horror can be an exciting adventure to embark on when watching a movie. But, what is nice is to be able to put the horror away when you are done with it. But, what if the frightening themes were on a repeating loop, only to continue until you were able to understand and solve a riddle-like mystery?
“Happy Death Day,” a new horror film on a loop, which came out on October 13, has been slaying at the box office. It will scare the skin right off of you, as you are constantly caught between goosebumps and hardcore life lessons.
The main character, Tree Gelbman (played by Jessica Rothe), is a college student who wakes up on her birthday and goes about her day, until she is murdered by a masked person. Oddly enough, she immediately wakes up screaming, and it is her birthday again.
What a nightmare Tree must live in to have her murder on repeat, in a “Groundhog Day”-esque fashion! The audience is thrown into this terrifying cyclone along with her. Every time she dies, it is in a different way. The suspenseful music always clues you in beforehand. Once more, she is dead. But, who is the killer?
Usually, the murderer is the person you least expect in a movie. During Tree’s process of elimination, the audience tries to piece it all together with her. Once she realizes that her self-absorbed attitude maybe giving the killer initiative, she can truly narrow it down. The audience crosses off suspects as she does.
Overall, “Happy Death Day” will frighten you, make you snort with amusement during moments of comic relief and make you sink down in your chair hoping that your friends don’t see you jump. The suspense will keep you captivated throughout, and at the end, you will probably turn to your viewing-partner and exclaim, “See! I told you!”
