As a way to end the semester on a high note, the Plymouth State event marketing class is putting on an event to connect, network, and relax before finals week. The HUB courtroom and fireplace lounge will be the spot for “The Panther Experience,” which is to take place Friday, December 15th.

“We wanted to put something together for anyone who wants to get involved, but are unsure as to how they should go about it,” said Event Marketing Professor Denise Hutchins. “As we wanted it to resemble what Panther Days does for incoming freshman, we wanted our first year students-and really anyone who wants to go-to get that networking experience while also connecting with other students.”

As the Panther Experience originated around the ideals that Panther Days represent, the event marketing class tabbed their event as something for students to take the time to learn more about Plymouth State, while relaxing and preparing for finals. Networking events will be available, but the class also incorporated games, distressing events (aromatherapy and pet therapy), a photo booth, and an appearance from Santa himself.

Additionally, several panels and connection events will spring up throughout the day. The class intends to bring in recent alumni, to panel in front of the audience about what they enjoyed about their time at Plymouth, but also what they wished they could go back and do.

“We want the students to hear from alumni about what they wished they did with the intent that students will get themselves involved,” said senior event marketing student Colin Leddy. “We figured that if they heard what some of the alumni missed out on, like not joining a club, they might have more of an urge to try something out.”

The networking portion of the Panther Experience will show a similar face to Panther Days, with both student organizations and representatives from different departments and disciplines in attendance.

“One of the biggest aspects to this event is getting everyone that represents anything on campus to this event,” said Professor Hutchins. “We want students to see how many organizations and departments Plymouth State has. We hope that the event will get students to talk to who’s tabling; maybe they’ll decide to join a new major or minor.”v

The Panther Experience can be found on both Facebook and Twitter, and anyone can use the hashtag #PanthersHelpingPanthers to joing the conversation. Every organization should be urged to table the event, and all tabling requests can be brought to the attention of Professor Denise Hutchins via email at dmhutchins@plymouth.edu.
