Shawn’s Café & Grill
There is a new Burger Café Open on Main Street. Shawn’s Café and Grill, a burger and sandwich shop on Main Street, has taken the place of College Town Pizza, and is now open. The family owned business has been open since August, and is now receiving recognition from the town, especially from residents of Plymouth.
“I chose Plymouth because my family and I have always liked it up North, and the main reason is to be near the college in an area I really liked, doing this type of café. After researching the area, there are no burger places around, so we kind of tackled that as a niche. We have twenty different specialty burgers,” said Shawn Boisvert, the owner of Shawn’s Café and Grill.
He has never owned a restaurant before, but he is a business owner, and he has been planning to establish this café for five to six years. “Prior to this, I was in the Marines and I was also in the automobile industry for 22 years.” Boisvert’s outlook for the approaching season is very positive. “I really don’t know [how it will go] yet, because it’s a new thing for me. I think the longer you’re in business, the better things are. I’m trying this out, and [we will] see how it goes.”
For the upcoming winter, the restaurant will be offering homemade chili, chicken noodle soup, and beef stew. For vegetarian options, menu items include salads, veggie subs and sandwiches, and they are looking into getting vegetarian burgers in the near future. Boisvert expects more business during the colder months, especially once advertisements and word-of-mouth begin to circulate. “I think in time, the more people that come in and pass the word, the better everything will be.”
Regarding the student community, “I haven’t really dealt with that many college kids, not a lot of them know what I’m about yet.” However, Boisvert mentioned that he has received plenty of business from the people that live around Plymouth. “Honestly, the biggest hit we have had so far are the locals. They come in and it’s more than they even expected.”
As the only burger restaurant in Plymouth, the family owned establishment is optimistic and eager to embark on their new journey.
