Student Election Results
On Tuesday, September 21, students hit the online polls to vote for their new senate members. In the HUB, Senate members had a table set up with multiple laptops for voters to place their online vote. Despite the polls only being open one day this year, as opposed to the three days students had last year to place their vote, there still was a great and unexpected turnout.
"We had about half of the voters we had within all three days last year, show up in just one day this year," said Student Body Vice President Sam Wisel.
Of the 18 positions open, only 5 had students running for them this year, leaving a lot of important spots still open.
By Tuesday evening, the polls were already tallied up, and Student Body President Bryan Funk took the podium in the Fireplace Lounge to thank everyone for letting their voice be heard by voting, and to announce the results. The members for the Student Body Government for 2010 were announced as:
Senate Positions
1. At-Large Senate Representative: Kelly Donovan
2. Belknap Hall Senate Representative: Joseph Gallagher
3. Pemi Hall Senate Representative: Peter Orszagh
Class Officer Positions:
1. First Year Class Vice-President: Norma Ross
2. First Year Class President: Cassandra (Cassie) Stokes
"For a one day vote, we were happy that we had people who came out and made their voice count," said Funk after the announcement.
