Silver Center Delivers Momma Art Exhibition
Plymouth State University's Silver Center for the Arts is currently hosting the MOMMA exhibition. The show features New Hampshire artists Marcia Santore, Laura Morrison, Patricia Schappler, and Annette Mitchell. From the paintings to sculptures the array of pieces and genres represented give the show versatility. The exhibition is named MOMMA because it follows the theme of motherhood. The variety of work expresses many different aspects and points of view of motherhood.
The Karl Drerup Art Gallery in the Silver Center was filled with people walking around examining the art. There were a wide variety of people in the room ranging from younger kids to senior citizens. The students in the room stuck out the most walking around with their notebooks and setting up shop in front of a particular piece and scribbling on their papers.
PSU sophomore Sarah said, "I'm here for a class. I have to choose three different pieces to write about." One group of students that were standing together in front of the piece "Finding Home" by Patricia Schappler. They said that even though they were there for a class they thought it was "different but cool." Senior Shannon McKane said, "I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to the show, but it was really interesting. The work was all so different it was awesome to see motherhood represented in such a way."
The show will be on display in the Karl Drerup Art Galleryin Silver until April 11th. More information about the MOMM exhibition as well as the full Silver Center schedule can be found on the PSU w
