PLYMOUTH, NH -- Want to travel the world and still get an education? How does South America or Ireland sound, or a cruise ship? Want to travel someday? Plymouth State University is giving students the opportunity to do just that.

Wed., October 2nd was the Study Abroad Fair and Passport Day here at PSU. Students could find out all they needed to know about where they can go, how to apply, and any other questions they may have.

To be eligible, a student must be at least a sophomore for an entire semester to travel. However, if a freshman looking to study abroad, there are trips available for one to three weeks in March of the second semester offering individual courses in Costa Rica. These are only for the duration of the course and not an entire semester.

Go anywhere you'd like, and the best part is that you pay the same tuition as you would here at PSU. The financial aid that students would receive would follow them. The only difference is location, and the payments for room and board.  Worried that you may be unable to afford a semester abroad, there are plenty of scholarships available specifically for studying abroad.

There are also options available to students whom may be interested in spending a semester at sea- that's right, on a cruise ship! The ship itself is a university, and comes packed with everything a student would find at a college. A student with a passport, simply applies online as early as possible. The Semester at Sea program does three separate trips year round, with anywhere from 8 to 15 destinations in one semester. An affordable reality, The Semester at Sea program has an available $4 million dollars in financial aid and scholarships each year.

Looking to study abroad? A passport should be the first step- thankfully PSU makes that process very easy. They offer free photos for PSU students, faculty, and staff. For a fee of $135 a student who is a new applicant can get a passport book. $110 for renewals, and only $55 for a passport card.  Resources through the university to apply for one are available as long as the student has two official forms of ID. Applying early is a necessity.

Any other questions about how to get involved to study abroad? Contact the Global Education Office online, or drop by the Bagley House located between Hall and Blair residence halls between 8-4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
