Young Love
Young love, the kind seen on TV and movies, the kind of love that never fails. That thing that's shared with someone else where just one look says it all. It's something everyone strives for, and it's easy to forget in our crazy lives.
Especially as students, so much is going on, and sometimes love is easy to put on the back burner. Even the love for our friends and family can easily be put on hold when there are three exams and a presentation coming up, along with that commitment to that sport/club/sorority/job/etc. But some people have found a way to get through it all. What does that mean for the rest? Unable to cope with stress well? Less able to manage time effectively? Or maybe haven't found "the one" yet? Which ever it is, Kayla Grimes and Evan Gaudette have found a way to make it happen, and are even engaged!
"For me, school is my number one priority, but if you find someone you love, I don't see why you wouldn't commit," says an anonymous student.
Grimes and Gaudette are busy people and are familiar faces on campus. She is a senior, 22, from Pike, New Hampshire. He is a Junior, 21, from Nashua New Hampshire. The two PSU students met in Grafton Hall two years ago when Grimes was baking cookies in the kitchen, and began dating shortly thereafter.
"I knew from the moment we started talking in the Grafton Hall kitchen that Kayla was the person that I would spend the rest of my life with. She is funny, smart, and beautiful, and I feel so lucky to have found my soulmate," said Gaudette.
Both are important figures on campus, Grimes is the Student Body President, and Gaudette is the Student Trustee for USNH. Gaudette proposed to Grimes on Jan. 18, 2014. Grimes was just leaving from work downtown in Plymouth, as Gaudette picked her up on a snowy evening. The two stopped to admire the snow before getting into the car, and he popped the question. She said yes.
"I was in so much shock, I can't even remember what he said," said Grimes. They plan to be married in Oct. 2016. With jobs, school, leadership positions, clubs, and social lives, it is possible to fit a relationship in there. These two have managed to do it.
