PSU's Got Talent Gets Canned
Plymouth State's annual talent show, PSU's Got Talent, has been cancelled this year. The show, which normally pits competing students against each other, has been cancelled due to what has only been called by one member of PACE, a "major internal issue."
The event, hosted by PACE every year, usually draws a large crowd, will be a noticeable loss to student activities. The proceeds from the show usually go to the Bridge House,, a local veteran's homeless shelter, but this year they will not be receiving any donations from this event.
In an email to the contestants, there was no specific reason given as to why the show itself was canceled only sighting issues internally. "Unfortunately we had some major internal issues, and at this point there is not enough time between now and the show date to fix them. I hope you can understand that we would not cancel the show for some small problem, this would affect the total outcome of the show and snowball into a much greater problem then it is now," the email read.
When the leaders of the event were asked what these issues were there was no response..
Many students have vocalized their distaste over the event being canceled. Senior Brandon Marinkov said, "To me it was something that is important to a college campus, not just for fun, but it lets students competing show off their talent."
In another statement from the email the competing students were asked to be respectful in light of the situation, "I do ask you no matter how upset you are, please handle this as the young professionals we are, to not negatively reflect on the event, please remember that this event is not for the campus, it is to raise money for the Bridge House."
Although disheartened, there is still hope that next year, PACE will be able to once again sponsor the event and let the show go on.
