Super Bowl & MVP Predictions by the Clock's Sports Writers

MVP thus far- Aaron Rodgers QB Green Bay Packers
After winning the Super Bowl last year (and being named MVP), Rodgers hasn't missed a beat, as he leads the only undefeated team in the NFL. Rodgers has many different weapons to throw too, but these weapons are due to the type of quarterback he is. When Rodgers need a long pass on 3rd down, he has Greg Jennings to throw to. Need someone to make a play when the Pack are deep in their zone? Jordy Nelson is the answer. When the Pack need a 1st down on a 3rd and six, Donald Driver is there. The reason that all of these players get these passes, though, is because of Rodgers. After week 6, the former Cal Bear was 3rd in passing yards, 1st in touchdown throws, 1st in average yards per completion, and 1st in completion percentage. I don't like looking at all of those "cute" new stats, and those four are the ones that really matter to me. Oh yeah, did I mention that he won the Super Bowl last year and is the quarterback of the NFL's only undefeated team?
Super Bowl match-up- Green Bay Packers vs. Baltimore Ravens
I think I have already stated why the Packers will be in Super Bowl XLVI, so now I will talk about the Ravens. Baltimore's quarterback, Joe Flacco has finally developed into a top 15 or so quarterback to complement Ray Rice. Anquan Boldin is one of the best past catchers in the league, while Torrey Smith is starting to show that he was worth a 2nd round pick. On the other side of the ball, Ray Lewis is still awesome, despite being in his 15th season and Ed Reed is still the best ball-hawking safety in the league. Haloti Ngata has the ability to stuff the run up the middle while Terrell Suggs is one of the best outside linebackers in the league. As far as who I would guess who would win, I think it would ultimately end up being the Ravens, just based on the fact that it is so hard to repeat in professional sports anymore.

MVP thus far- Aaron Rodgers QB Green Bay Packers
My heart says Tom Brady, but logic suggests Aaron Rodgers. The Green Bay Packers quarterback, and last year's Super Bowl MVP, will be this season's Most Valuable Player if he continues with the high level of play he has shown so far this season. Rodgers has led his team to six straight victories this season, with no losses, making most Packers fans wonder: "Brett who?" If Brett Farve was Green Bay's gunslinger, then Rodgers is their assassin. I believe he will continue with his pinpoint accuracy and finish the season holding the league MVP trophy for the first (and probably not the last) time.
Super Bowl match-up- Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots
The Green Bay Packers are (as of now) the only undefeated team in the NFL. While they may pick up a couple of losses throughout the season, I have little doubt that they will march through their competition on the NFC side of things until they reach the Super Bowl for the second consecutive season. Waiting for the Packers in Indianapolis, will be the hungriest team in the league: the New England Patriots. If Tom Brady had kept his long, flowing hair after his team's first (and only) loss this season against the Bills, I may not have chosen the Pats. Now, seeing his new (or old) look, I just feel sorry for the rest of the league. Nobody in the NFL can match the intelligence and intensity of a focused Belichick/Brady combination, not even Aaron Rodgers and the green and yellow.

MVP thus far- Matthew Stafford QB Detroit Lions
Even if you have only been a casual NFL fan for the past fifty years, I'm sure that you would have had at least known the Detroit Lions as one of the worst teams in professional sports. Well, that has all changed with the play of Matthew Stafford. Leading the Lions to a really impressive 5-1 start (their best record over the past fifty years), it looks like Stafford has finally come into his own as one of the more elite QB in the league.
Super Bowl match-up- Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots
Yeah, I know. I picked the two best teams in the NFL to go to the Super Bowl. Go figure, right? Well, it's hard to argue with it. They both represent the best teams in their conferences in the NFC and AFC. Add in the fact that watching Aaron Rodgers vs. Tom Brady would be an impressive showdown of the two best QB's in the NFL, and you have a recipe for one of the more entertaining and exciting Super Bowls in years.

MVP thus far- Aaron Rodgers QB Green Bay Packers
No real surprise here, as he is playing scary good. Rodgers leads the league in passer rating and touchdowns with only 3 picks. Rodgers is also leading the only undefeated team in the league. It seems to me that he still has that underdog attitude to prove critics wrong about him filling Brett Favre's shoes. Another thing is his scrambling and running skill is very underrated. Tom Brady had that tough game against Buffalo and has 8 picks on the season. If Brady gets back to his ways he was in the first two weeks then we might have a new discussion, but as of now Rodgers hands down.
Super Bowl match-up- Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots
I seriously thought about picking Baltimore, but very rarely will you get the best of the Pats twice in the playoffs. I get the Pats D is awful, but as of recently they've shown me some inspiring things against Dallas and the Jets. I see no one really getting past Green Bay, with the exception of the Saints but they've been inconsistent, and I prefer Rodgers over Drew Brees. It's a quarterback league today and I expect the two best in the league to settle it. Bill Belichick and Brady probably won't die peacefully till they get number four, so despite their postseason curse in the last two years, I like the Patriots.
