The Pre-Medical Professional Society teamed up with Biederman's Thurs. night, March 6th in hosting a fundraiser and trivia night to raise money for Relay for Life. Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and is a nonprofit organization that funds Cancer research. The event had a massive turnout, packing the deli within minutes. Trivia topics consisted of questions centered around 90s pop-culture, Disney themes, science topics, and more.

"[The turn-out was] more than we'd expected," said Senior class member and President for the Pre-Medical Professional Society, RaeAnn Liccardi.

"We thought maybe twenty [people] would come, and we probably got [around] fifty," said Senior Thomas Duvall, who also serves as President for the organization.

"We don't know [how much money we raised]. It's a wildcard with Biederman's. If they raise enough money then we get a percentage of it. It [wasn't] a set-percentage but the more people we got, the better of a chance we had. [Tyler Driscoll] (Biederman's Manager) said the turn-out was great so hopefully we got a decent amount of money," said Liccardi. Driscoll was unavailable for comment.

"Students are inspired by trivia," Duvall said. "They enjoy having a good time which is a good way to raise money for a cause.

"It makes me feel a lot better because a lot more people showed up than [what] was expected, so it makes me feel like people are going to come to Relay", said Liccardi. "People donated, so [it was evident] they came for the cause and not just the booze."

"We also got people to sign-up tonight which has been uncommon [because] we've been trying to get people to sign-up by word-of-mouth and it seemed to have gotten the message across much better than what we'd done up until this point," Duvall said.

Students interested in participating in the event can sign up at www.relayforlife.org/plymouthstateNH, where they will be directed to a page in which they can register for teams and/or volunteering to help out on the Committee team. Registration to join a team is $10/person, which can be paid online or the day of the relay. Students who are interested in helping out the cause but not interested in racing have the option to donate on the same page if they are interested. For questions or more information, students can contact RaeAnn Liccardi at rmliccardi@plymouth.edu.

"They signed up on the spot," Lizzardi said. "They were like 'oh, what is this? I want to know more', which was great. I had 30 flyers with me and they were all gone by the end of the night."

Many people signed up immediately, however, it is unclear what the exact number of people was.  The walk will take place on Fri., April 4th from 5-11 p.m. on the HUB Green.
