Difficult prof. due to three factors. One: very condescending and will get visibly angered upon being asked for help. Two: goes into irrelevant tangents during lecture, and has no visual aids during lecture. Three: the class is all math and no concepts. Tragically, he is the only Physics prof. at PSU. Again: he does not care if you fail.
Worst prof. so far at PSU. Actually told us he doesnt care if anyone fails because he has tenure. Wouldnt help me when I asked for it. Over half the class is failing. I am an A student, have never received anything lower than a B, and I am barely passing this class. Take somewhere else if you can, I have never had a worse prof..
Dr. Machnik seemed like a friendly guy at first. He is generous when it comes to making up a exam, lab etc. But it is clear that he has NO interest in teaching his students. He gets pissed if you come to him for extra help and says he 'has no time.' Take elsewhere if you can!
VERY difficult CLASS. The teacher is very intelligent and will tend to fly through the material. Don't be afraid to ask questions. exam 1: very aceable. exam 2: study the chapters you're comfortable with and skim over any remaining chapters. At least pass this exam. exam 3: I would not stress unless you failed a previous exam. This material is always tough.
Very unimpartial grader, has no sympathy for his students. He's a genius, and therefore expects everyone to understand things without any explanation. The majority of people in my class failed. Be prepared to retake this class. |
