Looking Up
Looking Up

I was sitting in class last week, and my professor said something that stuck with me. She said something along the lines of, “Everyone should have three role models that they look up to in life.” That got me thinking, do I?
The first name that popped into my head was Joe Mealey. He was one of my first professors at PSU and my original advisor. I thoroughly enjoyed my classes with him and really felt that I learned something. He was able to make the entire class laugh while getting all of us to respect him at the same time. He never made me feel like what I said was stupid, and actually worked on teaching us something. Mealey was one of those teachers that poke fun at his students but knew when not to. Not to boost his ego, but he is definitely someone that I have looked up to since I had him as a professor.
The next one is one of my littles, a Sorority term for little sister, a girl I am supposed to mentor. Lexis Trafton is the kind of girl that everyone loves from the moment you meet her. I adored her from the very first time I met her. Since then, I have learned more and more about her and look up to her dedication to her friends. She has a big heart and is willing to do everything in her power to stand up for her friends. Trafton has a passion to give back to the community that I am so happy to see in her. Someone so caring is easy to admire.
Lastly, for today’s list at least, I am going to talk about my other little, Nichole Currier. She is a strong and very independent woman. She has a passion for writing that is evident from the draft of a book she has written. This is something that we have in common. She never lets anything get in the way of that passion, and for that, I am extremely jealous. She truly knows how to make time for the things that she loves. Currier is a girl who is willing to be there for anyone who needs her, whether or not she necessarily wants to be. I hope that she can see that I just want to be there for her as well. Her strength and passion is something that I wish I could have as immensely as she does.
These three people are just a few of the men and women who have enhanced my life and gave me something to move forward to. It’s important to let these people know, because there is nothing better than the feeling of being appreciated. Mealey, Trafton, and Currier, thank you for all that you have done for me and how much you have influenced my life!
