The chill is in the air folks, all walking around campus have felt the cold air that has besieged Plymouth. With it we know that fall sports are winding down and winter sports are just around the corner. Here are your newest addition of Panther power rankings!
As always we start with each fall team:
1. Field Hockey: The ladies keep rolling winning a crucial conference game against Keene State. They’ve improved their record to 10-3 (8-1 in conference.) They are two wins away from the number one seed and securing home field advantage for the Little East tournament.
2. Men’s Soccer: The Men’s soccer squad is currently 7-5-1 (3-1-1 in conference) thanks to strong offensive play from sophomore Nick Rutherford rom (Sydney, Australia) and goaltending from junior Felix Lindeberg (Stockholm, Sweden.) Three games remain in the playoff push.
3. Cross Country (Men’s and Women’s): The Men and Women recently ran the Emmanuel Invita- tion in Dorchester, MA where the men came home 5th of 22 teams and the women were 6th of 22 teams. Their next two meets are the Little East Championship and the ECAC Championship.
4. Women’s Tennis: After a rough start, women’s tennis has really found their stride. With a current 9-5 record (6-2 conference) the ladies are playing strong, after winning their quarterfinal matchup against Worcester State in the Little East Conference tournament. They will face Bridgewater State in the semis.
5. Women’s Volleyball: The enigma that is the women’s volleyball team currently has a winning record of 17-6, however when broken into conference play they are 1-3. The struggle to win in conference could prove costly as they near playoffs in November.
6. Women’s Soccer: Women’s soccer finds themselves at 5-6 (2-3 in conference) with the key being con- sistency the ladies have yet to really find it. They continue to play hard and find some conference win’s down the stretch to the post season.
7. Football: The young squad continues to struggle, they are 2-4 and 1-3 in MASCAC play after a huge homecoming win against Westfield State in overtime they fell to Bridgewater State. They continue to make small improvements that hopefully soon will translate to wins.
