1) "You're Not You"
This is a must-see. It's a film capturing the impact of ALS on not only the individual with the disease but also those around them. Starring Hillary Swank, the film depicts the struggles of someone enduring the disease. Swank, playing the pianist who is diagnosed with ALS, won an award for her performance and rightfully so.

2) "Serendipity"
Looking for a classic? This film, starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, tells the story of two young people who meet suddenly and believe they've met for a reason. He believes in love at first sight and she believes in destiny. She refuses to give him her number because she's convinced that if they are destined to be together their paths will meet again. Ten years later, they both find they can't get each other off their minds. Coincidentally, they are both on the road to marriage with a different person. Will they end up together? Go find out!
3) "About Alex"
This film is one of the most eye-opening films on Netflix in a long time. After years apart, long time friends get together after one of them attempts suicide. After having spent their college years together, they learn quickly that some things never change, even after college. Old crushes, resentments and life decisions come to the surface that pushes many of their friendships and relationships to the brink. This film is heartbreaking, comical and makes you really think about your college experience and the friends you make along the way.
Television
1) "The Blacklist
This HBO-hit is now on Netflix! Centered around an FBI agent, Elizabeth Keene, this TV series introduces a new kind of drama. When Agent Keene comes face to face with Blacklister, Raymond Reddington, he has a plan for her. With plot twists are every turn, this series keeps audience members guessing as they learn just how connected Agent Keene and Blacklister Reddington really are as they work together to track down top fugitives on the blacklist. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, the game changes.
2) "Skins"
If you haven't seen this already, you need to check out the UK-version of "Skins". It's a TV series that follows the lives of young teens as the make their way into adulthoold. Experimenting with sex, drugs and the part scene, these teens find themselves face to face with tough moral and ethically decisions. Find out how these friends help each other navigate through this time in their lives, making many mistakes along the way.
Documentary
1) Tapestries of Hope
This films is one that should be seen by anyone who is really interested in other cultures, or someone who enjoys learning about world issues. This documentary is centered around an organization in Zimbabwe called "Girl Child Network". The organization's main goal is to help and protect girls who have raped or sexually abused. The film describes a tribal myth amongst many people in that area; the myth being that a virgin's first bleed can purify the blood of an HIV-positive male. The film discusses the culture issues and impact that both the myth and tribal healers have on young girls in Zimbabwe, and how the organization is working toward the myth's extinction.
