After a tough season in which the Panthers only won six games, the newest addition of women’s Plymouth State basketball is looking to improve. Led by captain’s senior Savannah Miller (Smithtown, NY) and juniors Ace Lawrence (Middletown, CT) and Lindsy Poulin (Goffstown, NH) and 1st year coach Allison Flynn, they look to capitalize on their chances and take control of the LEC. With nine new freshmen joining the roster the team certainly doesn’t lack in depth. Senior Taylor Perry of Simsbury, CT leads the team with 14.0 points per game, and when it comes to tough glass play Miller and junior Kayla Wyland (Melrose, MA) are the best with 6.0 rebounds per game.

The first contest was a Trip to New England College, the ladies would fall 76-59 despite a strong performance from Perry and Lawrence getting 27 points between them. The team then traveled to the capitol city of Concord, NH for the Boys & Girls Club Classic. Although Lawrence would put up 15 points the Panthers would fall in a close contest to Rivier 63-59.

While the team hasn’t found a win yet, there’s no need to panic. It’s early in the season and the young team and coach will need time to gel and grow as a unit. Home games start this Tuesday the 24th at Foley Gymnasium.
