Monday, Feb. 8 kicks off the first day of winter carnival week. For years, this week has been one looked forward to most by students with the different events and cancellation of class on that Wednesday for Ski Day.
Speaking about past years, Sarah Whitt, junior tourism management and policy major said, “During winter carnival week I have enjoyed all the events that were held by PACE because it brings everyone back together after winter break and it is nice to have an event to go to after class.
This year’s schedule includes a lecture from former pro snowboarder, Kevin Pearce, Ski Day, snowshoeing, music, a movie night and more.
“I always look forward to the free mugs because I collect them every year but I am also excited for Paint Night,” said Whitt. Nick Einstman, senior communication major, said he looks forward to the DIY bamboo plants.
PACE has worked hard to make Ski Day appealing to even non-skiers. Snowshoeing, music and lawn games will be held up at Cannon Mountain as well. It’s meant to be a day to kick back and relax, on and off the slopes.
“I'm really looking forward to experience ski day this year,” said Emma Partridge, President of PACE and senior communication major. “Pace normally has event on campus during ski day, but this year we wanted students that don't ski or snowboard to have the opportunity to make it to the mountain.”
Students seem to be looking forward to it as well. “I am most looking forward to actually going to Cannon Mountain on Ski Day rather than staying at home,” said Whitt.
Stay tuned to announcements made by PACE for ticket and prize information.
