What Type of Class Suits You Best?

Every spring and fall, every student on campus undergoes one of the most stressful weeks of the semester. No, it’s not finals week. It’s advising week.
When the day to sign up for classes comes around, everyone rushes to their computers as soon as they wake up in an attempt to get the classes that they want for the upcoming semester, but the question then arises, what type of class suits you the best, online or face to face?
For me, it is a very obvious choice every time I sign up. I do everything that I can to avoid online classes at all costs. I feel as though I get a much better education and I learn ten times as much when I am in a classroom where the professor is physically in front of me teaching. When I take online classes I get distracted too easily and in two simple clicks I can be deep into a movie on Netflix and that Moodle post that was due twenty minutes ago, still is not written.
Freshman Kelsey Roy said, “Regular classes make it so much easier for me to learn because if I happen to get confused I can simply ask the professor for help. But with online I need to email them and it becomes a hassle just trying to get help.”
I also feel when I take a class that is face to face with a professor my money is being spent smarter. I know that regardless what kind of class I chose to take the cost is still the same and I will still get the same amount of credits but for me it is more than just credit count when I think about my classes. I took an online course last semester and I do not remember a thing about it, but the class I took freshman year that I was practically asleep for every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, I remember every lecture simply because I was actually there.
Other students however prefer online classes to face-to-face classes for some interesting reasons. Sophomore Joscelyn Lamoureux said, “I love online classes so much more than regular classes. When I take an online class I am able to complete the class at my own pace for the most part all while sitting in the comfort of my living room, that alone is reason enough for me.”
Whether you prefer online classes or face-to-face classes, I wish you the best of luck.
