Clowns
Clowns
It’s almost one o’clock, and I’m looking around the Clock’s office. There are three of us left, working on this week’s paper. Danielle is laying out the paper, while
Simon and I are reading over articles.
Well, trying to.
At this late an hour, it’s hard to get anything accomplished. At this point, we’ll probably be here until three or four, and I’ll be back in at eight to finish up. If I can get a solid four-hour nap in before I come back, I’ll be surprised. I’ll lay there, thinking about how it looks, or how my writing was, or what people will think about when they pick up the print. So four hours, if I’m lucky.
But here I am, listening to my colleagues sing along to an old T-Pain song while we try to finish the paper. In their defense, “Summer Hits of the 2000’s” is one of the hottest Pandora stations in The Clock office Wednesday nights.
All the work (or lack there of) that we’ve done in the past hour got me thinking about something we haven’t really had the chance to cover. Over the summer, I got an email about the sighting of the clown here in Plymouth. I couldn’t really do anything about it, because we don’t print during the summer, but I was half-hoping that we would have the opportunity to see these guys. Now, if you didn’t know, the “Plymouth Clowns” have their own Facebook page, that was started before the nationwide clown frenzy took shape. After I had someone ask me if The Clock would be covering the clowns, I told them that we needed to have a sighting of them first. After I said that, I started to look them up. Who are they, where do they hangout, stuff like that.
Turns out, it’s a guy and a girl, and given the clown outrage, they don’t feel safe to be walking around in town. Can you blame them?
Honestly, they might not be the only ones that want to clown around on campus. Someone else might decide to dethrone the Plymouth Clowns. Halloween is right around the corner, after all. For now, I’ll be in The Clock office, clowning around.
