Ski Day: To the Non Skier or Snowboarder

Everyone knows that Ski Day is fast approaching. The day when there are no classes and theentire campus can hit the mountain without any consequences. Believe it or not there is a part of the student to body who does not ski or snowboard. So what does one do on Ski Day when the mountain is not calling them?

Some may take the responsible side and focus on academics and set certain goals for the day. There is so much time during this day to catch up on the reading that still has not been done. But come on, we all have been there, we know you are not going to read. Some may make the decision of cleaning their room, but half way through, it will get boring and you will stop because twitter or Instagram is blowing up. So the other option is the more preferred one, your bed. Sure, go snuggle up under blankets and watch Netflix all day with Cheetos and Capri sun two centimeters away or just sleep. Go ahead, drool all over those pillows, and make the bed into a personal cocoon.

Ski Day, was meant to be spent outside or be spent doing something that someone's never done. Go build a snowman, have a snowball fight, or drink hot cocoa with friends. Even if you’re not much of a winter sports type, consider visiting the mountain anyway. We all have those friends who shred the slopes like it is their day job, so go with them. You will fall, you will be sore, and you will most likely be on the bunny hill the entire time but hey, at least you tried something new! Nothing beats friends laughing and smiling whether it’s at you or with you. Ski day is meant to offer a break from the mundane routine of getting up, eating, and going back to bed. When you are 80 years old those will be the only things you can do, so save those days for then.

When you remember Ski Day will you laugh at the epic fall you had on the mountain where you lost a ski or will you try to remember the episode of The Office you watched that day? No one here is telling you how to live your life, because as college students we do what we want. But we only get so many ski days, we only get so many memories and we only get so many years.

These days we spend so much time acting like we are adults but why is it so wrong to splurge on being young for awhile. We will never be too old to go play in the snow. So let's go.
