Poet Wesley McNair will read at the Silver Center as a part of the Eagle Pond Authors Series. The event will be held on April 20, at 7 p.m. McNair, a New Hampshire native and long-time Maine resident, has written 19 books including nine volumes of poetry. His works include “The Town of No” (1989), “Lovers of the Lost: New and Selected Poems” (2010) and his most recent work, “The Lost Child: Ozark Poems” (2014). McNair was the poet laureate of Maine from 2011 to 2016, and is now currently a professor at University of Maine at Farmington.
McNair’s work often explores the culture of New England and his own personal experiences and observa- tions. The Harvard Review compared McNair’s writing to that of Robert Frost and James Wright.
McNair’s unique way of combining story telling with poetry is something that critics have praised him for time and time again.
The Eagle Pond Authors Series has hosted many remarkable writers at Plymouth State since its founding in 1998. The series has hosted authors such as Meg Kearney, Mark Doty, and Plymouth State’s own, Liz Ahl, to read and speak about their works to the community.
The Eagle Pond Authors Series is free and open to the public with a reception and book signing to follow. Free tickets are available in advance through the Silver Center.
