With November just around the corner the temperatures are going to begin to drop and the leaves will begin to fall. These are welcoming signs that the season and weather are headed towards the winter months. But before we get to winter, we get to experience one of the most beautiful phenomenon New England can offer, foliage. People from all around the world come to New England to see the stunning colors up and down the mountains. The most popular destinations for leaf peepers in New England tend to be Vermont and New Hampshire. These two states are noted as some of the best locations in the world to see foliage.

Since Plymouth State University is located just below the most mountainous region in New England, we are gifted with having access to the best locations on the planet with a drive no more than a half hour away. With our lives being so crazy sometimes, it can be hard to find time to spend hiking or sightseeing exactly during the peak season. For us living so close, we honestly do not have an excuse to not make time to take a short cruise up North with a few friends at least once. So I ask you, to take advantage of what we have been given.

To further convince you to get outside, here are some of the greatest spots in NH to see the spectacular foliage. The best road side places you can go are on the Kancamangus highway in Lincoln off exit 32. There are dozens of pull offs with views of the mountain sides along with nature made waterfalls to explore. On that road, one of the most visited stops is the Lincoln Woods Visitor Center. You begin by crossing a beautiful suspension bridge and get led to miles of incredible trails, including the famous Bond Cliff trail which is a long 24 miles round trip, which is not recommend unless one is an experienced hiker. Another very popular place to visit, is Artists Bluff which is right across the road from Cannon Mountain. Its less than a mile hike and can be done in no more than ten minutes. Lastly another spot to see the leaves, is taking a drive through the little towns in the back country. These towns embrace the change and come alive with color. A few of these small towns are Waterville Valley, Lincoln, Woodstock, Sugar Hill, Sandwich, Gorham, Jefferson, and even our very own town of Plymouth. The list goes on and on, but for now these are some of the more notable place you can go if you are not sure what type of fall experience you want.
