“Shadow of War”: A “Lord of the Rings”-Flavored RPG
“Middle-earth: Shadow of War” is an amazing sequel to “Shadow of Mordor,” with many new abilities and weapons to use. This game is almost a hybrid of “Lord of the Rings” and “Assassin’s Creed,” that will have you playing for hours on end. “Shadow of War” is a single player RPG, where you play as a dead man named Talion. Talion is possessed by one of the rings, which Celebrimbor (the creator of the rings) has in his possession, and keeps in order to hold power over Talion’s (your) corpse.
This game is set during a gap in time between “The Hobbit,” and “The Lord of the Rings.” A story full of revenge, slaughtering Uruks (enemies within Middle-earth) and a large mysterious setting in Mordor. Within the game, Mordor is a huge, open world to explore, with various chances to level up in points and skills. The new armor and weapon system will have you trying to unlock legendary sets in no time.
The new addition of the game is the armor/weapon perks and levels. There are a few variants of levels and each piece of armor/weaponry contains different unlockable designs and perks. Once completed, the sets contain unique powers to wield against your enemies. Your player has various ways to take on a mission: being stealthy or engaging in hard-swinging combat. This slasher of a RPG is a must-buy for players who enjoy slashing and swinging to a very organized fighting style.
Each enemy in the game is unique, with their own name, rank and back story. This adds a lot of unique character traits in the game, and makes the enemies more fun to interact with before decimating them, or possessing them to fight along your side. There are now fortresses you can control, as well, but you must attack the defenses and capture them first.
Once captured, you can select the remaining Uruks you want to defend a fortress with from enemies. There is so much packed into this game, and I haven’t even scratched the surface of the campaign. Go grab a copy today and start your own slaughter today!
