Fall Foliage in Northern New Hampshire
For many New Englanders, fall is the best time of the year. It is a chance for many families to come together and go on many exciting adventures. From apple picking, going to a pumpkin patches and corn mazes, and even making fresh apple cider donuts, there are many activities to do as a family or with close friends. Now that the sun sets before 6 pm and the temperatures are swiftly dropping, the leaves are also changing.
Sophomore Michaela Patenaude says, “Being from New Hampshire, the further north you get or the more backroads you take, I find it more and more beautiful. Going for a drive either by yourself or with friends in the summer or fall can not only expose you to some wonderful views but clear your mind. Sometimes I find myself asking a couple people to go for a drive just to enjoy the foliage. Especially going for hikes. There are so many places to go around Plymouth State to do many fall activities.”
Leaf peeping is one of New Hampshire’s most beautiful activities. Many people come up to New Hampshire to view the beauty of the lush foliage you see while driving through the Franconia Notch. It is quite a site to see the lush red and deep burnt orange colors everywhere your eyesight goes. This is a special time of the year to view nature turning into its next stage, despite all of the traffic from people out of state. This is what makes Plymouth State University so extraordinary, the fall foliage and the cheerful faces that the crisp, cold air brings.
