Resident Evil 2 Remake Review
If you’re into horror games, you’ve probably heard of the “Resident Evil” franchise, produced by the gaming company Capcom. With nine titles on various gaming platforms and four movies, you’ve likely heard of “Resident Evil” at least once. For those of you that don’t know, the story takes place in a fictional place known as Racoon City. Players can choose to follow the path of Claire Redfield or one of the other characters that are introduced in each game. Learn the controls and get ready to smash your way through zombies and puzzle for a good few hours.
The franchise has played with a few different story arcs and have often added new elements with each addition. The seventh installment in the series is hailed as the scariest of all “Resident Evil” games, as it plays much more like a creative puzzle-style horror game than that of its predecessors.
The newest entry to hit the shelves is the remake of “Resident Evil Two.” It has a new storyline, better graphics, and new gameplay. Don’t be fooled by the updated cover and graphics, however. This game stays true to its roots. With the return of popular characters Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, we get an update on not only their stories but their interaction. Because the game is set early on in the breakout of evil infected zombie-like creations, the player gets to see a lot of character reaction to the various types of mutations these creatures can become. With the upgraded graphics, they’re scarier than ever. The puzzles and overall difficulty of the game holds up as well. Many people praise the older games for their intricate puzzles that are needed to move around buildings and from area to area. I’m not here to give away any spoilers, but after playing the game I do believe that it’s worth checking out whether you’ve been a fan for a long time or are just hearing about it now.
The game is currently retailing at $59.99 in most stores and online. It is available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The length of the game depends on how long you take to complete the puzzles. With some saying they beat the campaigns in around three hours each, other sources say there is up to ten hours’ worth of gameplay. If you’re down for a night of horror and fun, I suggest you grab a copy, dim the lights, and try not to get too scared.
