Men's Affiliate Hockey Team Annihilate NEC for First Win

Plymouth, N.H - The Plymouth State University men's affiliate hockey team won their first game of their first ever 2012-2013-season on Sunday evening home at Hanaway Ice Arena in front of supportive fans. Hoping to make history and build something that lasts at Plymouth State University, the Panthers played host to the team from New England College.
The Panthers got on the board early in the 1st period at 13:15 when Jonathon Crowley scored the first goal of the game off a feed from Keith Pilotte to put the score at 1-0. The goals began pouring in shortly after at 10:02 Jeff Sullivan scored from a sleek pass from defenseman captain Nate Michaud. Shortly after that Cody Carlson scored, ending the first period at 3-0.
Cody Carlson scored himself another goal to start off the second period at 7:35. Brett Lerner and Jared Koopman followed shortly after with two more goals to end the 2nd period 6-0.
After a solid cycle low in NEC's defensive zone, Keith Pilotte put the puck glove side off a pass from defenseman Tim Hoey to begin third period at 13:40. Captain Nate Michaud ripped a low slap shot at the net shortly after at 10:24 putting the score at 8-0. The Panthers didn't stop there; Jonathon Crowley scored his second goal of the game at 6:42. Alex Coopland followed with a shot high in the corner at 4:59. Junior forward Jon St. Charles scored off a rebound at 3:31 for a final score 11-0.
The win against NEC was a hard and well-earned game by the Panthers. They appeared to be and proved to be the stronger team, and made a statement. The affiliate team will play their next game after Christmas break. The team is finalizing the season schedule over winterim so all games will be set by the New Year.
"The game vs NEC was a fun game to play in, but it also gave us a chance to work the puck around and produce good scoring opportunities, and hopefully this is just the beginning," said senior forward Keith Pilotte.
